Description

Underneath this is Nine Men's Morris — a board game old enough to have been scratched into Roman roof tiles, known elsewhere as Mill, Merels or Mühle. Pieces are placed, then moved, and getting three in a row lets you remove one of your opponent's.

That removal rule is what makes it sharp. A line is not worth points, it is worth a piece off the other side, so the board thins as the game goes and the player who is behind has fewer options with every exchange.

The classic trap is the double mill: two lines sharing a piece, so sliding it back and forth forms a new line every single turn. Recognising one being set up is usually more urgent than finishing your own line.

This version extends the old rules with ideas from Emanuel Lasker and from the developer, and adds magic on top. It can be played against another person online, so the extensions have opponents who know them rather than only an opponent who follows them.
