Description

UNO needs no introduction: seven cards each, one face up in the middle, and the first player to empty their hand wins the round. You match the top card by color, by number or by symbol, and when you cannot, you draw one card, which you may play straight away if it turns out to fit.

The action cards are where rounds turn. Skip removes the next player's turn, Reverse flips the direction of play, and Draw Two forces the next player to pick up two and lose their turn. Wild lets you set the color; Wild Draw Four does the same and adds four cards. That last one is only legal when you hold no card of the color currently in play, and the player you hit can challenge you to prove it.

Calling UNO on your last card is not decoration. Until you call it, anyone else can catch you by hitting the UNO button first, and you draw two on the spot. That is the most common way a winning hand gets thrown away.

A table seats two to eight players in real time. To practice first there is a bot mode with three difficulty levels and up to three computer opponents, and Quick Match finds you a game when you simply want to play. Tournaments, 2v2 teams and spectator seats cover the busier tables. The turn timer is adjustable or off, and rounds are scored from the cards left in opponents' hands up to 500 points.

Six house rules change the game considerably if you switch them on. Stacking lets a draw card be answered with another draw card, including a +4 on top of a +2, until somebody picks up the lot. Jump In lets you play an identical card out of turn. Seven-O swaps your hand with a player of your choice on a seven and rotates every hand on a zero. Multi-Card lets several cards of the same number go down in one turn. The last two govern drawing: Draw to Match keeps you drawing until something is playable, and Force Play makes you play it.
