Description

Mexican Wrestler Superstars is lucha libre with the volume turned up. Masked wrestlers, a bright ring, a crowd, and an arcade version of the sport that cares more about spectacle than about rules.

Matches are decided on reflex. Holds and throws come out fast, the window to answer one is short, and a wrestler who reacts a beat late spends the rest of the exchange being thrown around the ring rather than doing the throwing.

Between the fighting there is the other half of the job — the posing. The game treats a wrestler’s image as part of the career, which is faithful to the sport it is drawn from and gives winning a purpose beyond the next match.

The art is loud and cartoonish, all masks and oversized arms, and the tone never pretends the violence is serious. It plays in portrait, which suits a phone.
