Description

Most merge games let you take as long as you like. Food Merge does not. Ingredients combine into dishes, dishes go to customers, and a timer runs the whole way through, which turns a calm genre into a hurried one.

Under time pressure the correct play stops being the tidy one. Holding items back to build the perfect chain is how you run out of clock; taking the merge in front of you, even a small one, keeps the board moving. Learning to accept a worse combination quickly is most of the difficulty.

Orders arrive faster as the levels go on and start asking for dishes further up the chain, so the same board has to produce more in less time. The escalation is steep enough that a level you cleared comfortably is two levels away from one you cannot.

The food is drawn brightly and the combinations are easy to read at speed, which matters more here than in a slower merge game. You are not studying the board; you are scanning it.
