Description

Knife.io is a flat arena, a handful of players and a lot of thrown steel. You aim, you throw, and the knife keeps travelling until it hits someone or leaves the screen. Being hit once ends your run.

Because knives travel rather than land instantly, the arena is always full of things already in motion. Half of playing well is watching the space rather than the players: a lane that looks empty was fired into a second ago, and the safest ground is usually somewhere a knife has just passed through.

The characters and worlds unlock steadily and change nothing about the rules, which is the right decision for a game this direct. What changes is the map layout, and a narrow arena rewards completely different habits from an open one.

A local two-player mode puts both players on the same keyboard or the same screen, and it is where the game is at its best. Reading a person sitting beside you is a different skill from reading a stranger, and much harder to fake.
