2048 Decks

2048 Decks strips the familiar number board back to almost nothing. A tilted four-by-four grid floats on black, the tiles are plain rounded squares, and the only numbers on screen are the score, your best and the largest tile you have built.

Its how-to-play page rewrites the rules you think you know. A drag moves every tile exactly one cell, not all the way to the wall, and each drag counts as one move. Two equal numbers only merge when the one in front has nowhere left to go, so you push pairs into a wall on purpose.

The strip above the board is the deck: it shows the next three tiles and how many moves until the first one lands. A new tile always enters from the side you last swiped away from, which makes the direction you choose matter twice.

And the deck itself is fixed, not shuffled. The cards come in a set order and repeat, so you can count what is left, and picking a different deck gives you a different board. Smash removes any one tile for free, with undo and next beside it.
