Description

Age of Zombies is a twin-stick shooter starring Barry Steakfries, pulled into a time-jumping job to clean up the undead before they overrun history. The tone is comic-book throughout — cartoon art, one-liners, and no pretense of seriousness even when the screen fills.

The campaign runs 24 levels across 8 worlds, each a different era with its own flavor of undead: prehistoric jungles, ancient Egypt, feudal Japan and a few periods you would not expect. Every world ends with a boss, seven in total, each built around an attack pattern you have to learn before it goes down.

Weapons and zombie types keep the fighting from going stale. You start with a basic gun and pick up shotguns, machine guns, flamethrowers and grenades, while the undead vary between shamblers, sprinters and ones that explode when they reach you.

Moving with one hand and aiming with the other is the constant juggle that gives twin-stick shooters their shape. Outside the campaign, twelve Horde levels drop the story and just escalate the waves.
