Turbo Horizon Racing

Turbo Horizon Racing looks like an arcade cabinet from thirty years ago: pixel palms, a purple sunset, snow on pink mountains, and a grandstand full of dots cheering as the car pulls away.

Behind that is a career mode. Eight countries line the world tour select, from Japan to the USA, and five track types sit beneath them, with only Oval Sunset open at the start. The header tracks your level, experience, coins, completed races and wins.

The track card tells you what you are signing up for before you commit. Tokyo Stadium is fast and wide, with three laps covering just over ten kilometres, a mission to finish in the top twelve, fifty-two seconds on the start clock and five and a bit added at each checkpoint.

On the road, the HUD shows its own controls: Up or W for gas, Left and Right to steer, Down or S to brake, Space or Shift for nitro. Beside them are position, lap, distance, gear, speed in miles per hour, and a status line for draft, heat, grip and engine.
