Description

Vortex io gives you something with no body and no weapon — a hole in the water that pulls down whatever passes over it. Everything else in the arena is either something to swallow or something that will swallow you.

Size is the only statistic and it does two jobs. A larger vortex can take larger things, which is the progress; a larger vortex is also slower and easier to see coming, which is the cost. The middle of a run is where those two facts start pulling in opposite directions.

Because you cannot attack, positioning is the whole game. You steer somewhere and wait for the water to bring you something, and the skill is choosing a patch of arena that will be worth sitting in a few seconds from now rather than one that is busy right now.

Other players are real and doing the same arithmetic about you, which keeps the arena honest. Steering is a single input on the mouse, the arrow keys or WASD.
