Description

You are the blacksmith and the sword is made from nothing. A mould is chosen first, molten metal is poured, and what comes out is the shape you will be stuck with for the rest of the round.

Tempering happens between the flames. Holding the blade in the heat too briefly leaves it soft and holding it too long ruins it, so the useful window is narrow and it is the part of the process that separates a good sword from an average one.

Polishing raises the damage value afterwards, and it is slow work that pays directly. Skipping it produces a finished sword that looks correct and performs poorly, which is a lesson the game only teaches once.

An opponent is matched against you at the end and the two swords are tested on each other. Losing there points back at a specific step in the forge rather than at anything you did in the fight itself.
