Hardventure
Description
You play a small ninja crossing levels that look safe and are not. Floors give way, spikes come up out of ground that showed nothing, and bumpers throw you somewhere you did not choose. None of it is visible until it triggers, which is the point rather than a flaw.
That design makes a first attempt mostly information gathering. You die, you learn which tile collapsed, and the second run is the one where the level starts to look solvable. Players who treat a death as data get through far faster than players who treat it as bad luck.
The bumpers are the awkward part, since being thrown is not the same as jumping badly. A bounce can put you past a section you had not read yet, so recovering from one usually means slowing down instead of committing to the momentum you were handed.
Each world has its own look, and the change of scenery comes with a change in what the traps hide behind. Controls are the arrow keys, WASD or ZQSD on a computer and a row of buttons along the bottom on a phone, so nothing about the input gets in the way of the memorising.
