Aidan in Danger follows a red-haired young elf with a slingshot and one job: keep Drakor, the last dragon on Earth, out of the hands of a villain from another dimension. The story is told lightly, and the game gets you moving long before it finishes explaining itself.

Fighting at range changes how the platforming works. A sword forces you into a monster, but a slingshot rewards the opposite instinct, so the useful question in most rooms is which ledge lets you hit something before it can reach you. Positioning is the real weapon here.

Aidan can roll as well as jump, and the roll is what carries you through the gaps that jumping alone cannot solve. Levels are built around combining the two, and the ones that look impossible usually have a rhythm of jump, roll and shot that becomes obvious once you find the first beat of it.

The journey moves through time as well as space, which gives the pixel art an excuse to change completely every few stages. The look stays readable throughout, so even when the screen is busy you can tell what will hurt you and what is only scenery.
