Description

Mononinja strips a platformer down to one control and one colour. The ninja is a white silhouette, the world is black, and the only thing you can do is hold a button — the longer you hold it, the higher the jump.

Removing everything else is what makes it demanding. There is no correcting in mid-air and no second chance once you release, so a jump is settled entirely before it begins. Each gap has a hold length that clears it, and the game is the business of finding that length by feel.

The monochrome art is doing work rather than saving effort. With no colour to read, a spike is a shape and a platform is a shape, and the levels are laid out so that what you need to see is the only thing on screen. It reads instantly, which matters when a level asks you to try the same jump twenty times.

There are over thirty levels and they escalate honestly — longer sequences, tighter margins, no new mechanics bolted on halfway. It runs on the space bar, or a held tap on a phone, and nothing else.

Game Controls

How to Play:

  • Jump: Hold Space, or hold a tap on a phone
  • Height: The longer you hold, the higher the jump
  • No steering: Once you are in the air there is nothing left to adjust
  • Reach the goal: Cross the spikes and gaps to finish each level
  • Keep going: Over thirty levels, each tighter than the last
