Bowling Stars
Description
Scoring follows the real rules of bowling: ten frames, two throws each, with a strike and a spare counting the following throws into the same frame. A single good ball early can therefore still be worth points three frames later, and that is worth knowing before you decide a frame went badly.
A throw is one swipe across the screen. The direction of the swipe aims the ball and the shape of it puts curve on the delivery, so both decisions happen in the same motion. A straight ball down the middle rarely clears all ten pins, which is why the curve is the part worth practising.
Opponents get better as you go, and the answer is partly equipment. Trophies unlock heavier and better-behaved balls, and a ball that holds its line makes a curve repeatable rather than lucky. Winning early matches is how you afford the ones that make later matches winnable.
Everything else is stripped back on purpose. There is nothing to manage between throws, no stamina and no weather, which keeps a full game short. That suits bowling well, since the interesting part was always the gap between where you aimed and where the ball actually went.
