Basketball Fever does not try to be a basketball game. There is no team, no defence and no clock running down a quarter. There is a hoop, a ball, and four different ways of asking whether you can get one into the other.

The modes differ in what they take away. One removes the fixed distance, one removes the still hoop, one removes the second attempt. Each isolates a part of the same shot, and being good at one does not carry over as much as you would expect.

The physics are the reason it holds up. The ball behaves consistently enough that a miss is readable: too flat, too much power, released a fraction late. Nothing is random, so a run of bad shots is information rather than luck.

A round takes seconds and the whole thing is one tap, which makes it the kind of game that fills a two-minute gap without asking for anything. The high score is the only structure, and that is enough.
