Description

A match is one character on each side of a net on a tropical beach, and the ball has to end up on the ground of the opposite court. There is no passing and no team-mate; every touch is yours, so a return that goes wide is entirely your own doing.

The controls are left, right and jump, and jumping is what turns a defensive touch into an attacking one. Meeting the ball high sends it down steeply on the other side, while reaching it late from a standing position usually floats it back into easy range for your opponent.

Because both players move at the same speed, points come from where you put the ball rather than from getting there faster. Aiming at the far corner drags the opponent out of position and opens the next exchange, which is the closest this game gets to strategy.

It plays alone against the computer or with a friend on the same keyboard, one on the arrow keys and one on A, D and W. On a phone those three become touch buttons. Matches are short and the ball is always in view, so nobody has to explain the rules first.
