Description

Soccer Random gives each player one key and then refuses to keep anything else constant. The pitch might be ice, it might be sand, the ball might not be a normal ball, and the goalposts are not guaranteed to stay where you last saw them.

One key does everything — move, jump, kick — so nobody has an advantage from knowing the controls. What skill exists is in timing a single press against a physics engine that is only loosely on your side, and that is a level playing field in the truest sense.

The randomness is the joke and the balance at once. A round you were dominating can turn because the surface changed underneath you, and a player who has never touched it can beat a regular through nothing but a lucky bounce.

Games run to five goals, which is short enough that losing badly costs nothing. Play against the computer if you have to, but the second key on the same keyboard is the point.
