Description

These are offroad tracks against a clock rather than against a grid of rivals. Finishing inside the time is what unlocks the next car and the next track, so every run is measured rather than casual.

Nitro is unlimited, which sounds like the difficulty has been removed until you hold it too long. Heat builds while the boost is on, and an engine pushed past its limit ends the run with an explosion rather than a warning.

That turns the whole game into a question of when to let go. Long straights forgive a sustained burn; a series of bends does not, because you arrive at the corner too hot to turn and too hot to boost out of it afterwards.

Cars unlock in order and each handles the trade differently, so a track that punished you in the starter car can become straightforward later. The controls are the arrow keys and nothing else, which keeps the pressure on judgement instead of dexterity.
