Star Attack 3D
Description
Your spaceship shoots on its own from the first second, so all of your attention goes into where it sits. Alien blocks scroll down the screen carrying numbers, and that number is simply how many shots the block still needs. Sliding left or right decides which one your stream of fire is chewing through, and everything else follows from that choice.
Taking the low numbers first is usually right, because a block that clears quickly stops occupying the lane. Leaving a high number alone for too long, though, means it arrives at the bottom with most of its count intact. Reading the rows above the one you are shooting is the part that separates a long run from a short one.
Every level ends with a choice of upgrades for the ship. Some raise the rate of fire, others widen what you hit or add durability, and none of them comes without a consequence. Picking to suit the levels ahead works better than always taking the biggest number, since a fast ship with a narrow shot struggles against wide formations.
The look is 3D but the layout is the old vertical shooter: one lane of movement and a wall of targets coming down it. Controls work with a finger, a mouse or the keyboard, and none of the three needs more than left and right. That keeps the game readable on a phone without anything being cut out of it.
