Car vs Zombies runs on two things at once. The car is your weapon out in the field, and the base behind you is what has to still be standing when the next wave arrives.

Driving through the horde is the direct approach and it works, but the vehicle takes damage from every impact, so the useful line is through the loose edge of a group rather than the middle of it. Steering is left and right only, which keeps the pressure on positioning rather than technique.

Turrets are what handle the zombies you cannot reach in time. Placing them where the horde actually approaches from — rather than evenly around the base — is the difference between a defense that holds and one that is decorative, and upgrading a good position beats adding a second mediocre one.

Waves keep growing, so a setup that comfortably held wave five will not hold wave twelve. Balancing what you spend on the car against what you spend on defense is the ongoing decision.
