Description

Shipbuilding Tycoon puts you in charge of a yard rather than a single build. Specialised areas produce the parts, the parts come together into a hull, and the finished ship is decorated and sold. Money comes back in and the yard grows.

The interesting problem is that the areas run at different speeds. A workshop that finishes early leaves parts sitting idle, and one that lags holds up the assembly no matter how well everything else is running. Upgrading the fastest area feels productive and achieves almost nothing.

Bigger vessels need more parts and more kinds of them, so a yard that was balanced for small boats has to be rebalanced when you unlock something larger. That reset is the rhythm of the game, and it stops the upgrade path becoming a single straight line.

It runs as an idle game, so production continues while you are away and coming back means collecting a batch of completed work at once. That suits the subject — a shipyard is supposed to take time — and it makes short visits worthwhile.
