Description

Pool Duel plays standard eight-ball. Whoever pots first takes that group, stripes or solids, and has to clear every ball in it before the black is legal. Miss, and the table passes to your opponent exactly as it stands, mistakes and all.

The clock is what separates this from a quiet game of pool. Time runs while you line up, so the long deliberation that would find the perfect angle is itself a cost. Most players end up taking the second-best shot on purpose simply because they can see it faster.

Cue control matters more than raw aim once the easy balls are gone. Where the white stops decides whether you have a follow-up or a snooker of your own making, and a pot that leaves you hooked behind the black is worth less than a safety that leaves the table awkward for the other side.

Because both players work from the same table, a run of good potting can end a frame outright while your opponent watches. That is the appeal and the frustration in equal measure, and it is why the shot you rush early tends to decide the whole match.
