Mahia Dress Up gives you one character and a great deal to do with her. Twelve categories cover everything from hairstyle and hair color to eyes, glasses, dresses, shoes, skin tone, lipstick and nail art, with more than 200 items spread between them.

That breadth is the point, but it also makes restraint the skill. Every category being available at once tempts you to change all of them, and a look assembled that way rarely holds together — picking two or three elements to lead and keeping the rest quiet produces something that actually reads as a style.

Small categories do more than they look like they should. Nail art and lipstick will not carry an outfit, but they are what stops a finished look feeling unfinished.

When it is done, the disco scene is where the result goes — a background to pose against and a camera button to keep the version you liked before you start changing things again.
