Description

Kingdom Puzzles is the logic puzzle sometimes called Star Battle, dressed as a map of small kingdoms. Every coloured region gets exactly one king. No two kings share a row or a column. No king may sit beside another, including diagonally.

Those three rules interact more than they look. Placing one king does not only fill a region; it clears a row, a column and the eight squares around it, and in a tight layout that can decide two other regions immediately. Good solving is following that chain rather than guessing.

The regions are drawn deliberately awkwardly. A long thin region reaching across the board constrains everything it touches, and a small square region tucked in a corner often has only one legal square from the start. Finding the forced placements first is the whole method.

A wrong placement costs points rather than ending the level, which keeps it relaxed. It is a quiet, unhurried puzzle of the kind you can do one of before bed, and the satisfaction is entirely in the deduction rather than in any pressure.
