Merge 2048 Cake uses the same numbers as ordinary 2048 but changes what it takes to combine them. Three matching tiles in a group are required here rather than two, so the board has to be arranged far more tidily before anything will merge at all.

That requirement puts chain reactions at the heart of the game. One well-placed merge often sets off the next in sequence, and a single tap can clear most of the board without you touching it again.

Because groups have to form first, restraint is worth more than speed. Merging two tiles that happen to sit next to each other is tempting, but it usually breaks up the group quietly growing beside them.

Coins collected along the way buy help for when the board tightens. That help is limited, so saving it for a genuine dead end is more useful than spending it on a minor squeeze.
