Description

Hangman With Buddies is the guessing game you already know, played against real opponents rather than the computer. A word is hidden, you call letters, and every wrong call brings the little figure closer to the crocodile-infested water below him.

Playing against people changes how you guess. Against a machine you work through the common letters in order; against someone racing you, the calculation includes how much of the word they can already see and whether it is worth gambling on a whole guess before they get there.

The theme change matters more than it sounds. The stick man is holding a balloon above a river rather than standing under a gallows, which keeps the game exactly as tense and makes it something you can leave open in a room where children might see it.

Two or three people can play at once, and rounds are short enough that a losing streak is never long. The vocabulary side is real without being a lesson — you pick words up because you needed them, not because the game set out to teach you.
