Ultimate Yatzy
Description
Ultimate Yatzy runs on five dice and thirteen rounds. Each turn you roll, keep the dice you want, and roll the rest again, hunting for a combination worth writing down. The rolling is luck, but what you do with a mediocre roll is entirely your decision.
The scoresheet is what makes this a thinking game rather than a gambling one. Every combination — three of a kind, a full house, a straight, the five-of-a-kind Yatzy itself — can only be scored once. Once you write a number into a box, that box is closed for the rest of the game.
That rule forces uncomfortable choices. A turn that produces nothing useful still has to go somewhere, so you either accept a small score in a good category or write a zero into one you were unlikely to fill anyway. Sacrificing the right box early is often what separates a decent game from a strong one.
The upper section carries a bonus for players who keep collecting matching numbers rather than chasing the flashy combinations, and it is easy to lose by a handful of points because you ignored it. Play against opponents and you can watch their sheet fill up too, which changes when you should gamble on a third roll.

- Tap any die to hold it, then roll again to reroll only the rest
- You get up to three rolls in a turn before you must score
- Tap a category on the scoresheet to write your result into it
- Each category can only be used once across the thirteen rounds
