Chicken Math

Chicken Math opens with a complaint. Archimedes has been stuck on the same difficult problem for a week, and the reason is not the mathematics — it is the chickens. They have stolen his numbers again, they are loose in the backyard, and he is out of patience. So he hands you a rifle and sends you outside with one job: find the numbers and bring them back.

The twist is in his warning: he needs the correct numbers. That single condition turns an ordinary shooting gallery into something that makes you think. You cannot simply blast every chicken that crosses your sights, because the shot only counts if the number it is carrying is the right answer. Read the problem, work out the result, then find the bird holding it — and leave the wrong ones alone.

That gives every round a strange double pressure. One half of your brain is doing arithmetic, the other half is tracking a moving target through a 3D backyard, and the two do not naturally cooperate. Rush the shot and you bring back a wrong number; take too long working out the sum and the chicken you wanted has wandered somewhere awkward. Getting good at it means doing the math fast enough that the aiming still feels easy.

It is a genuinely funny idea executed straight, and the educational side sneaks in without lecturing you — you are practising mental arithmetic the whole time, but it feels like a shooting game because it is one. Short rounds, an easy hook, and a landscape view that keeps the whole yard visible make it a good pick for a quick break on either desktop or a phone.
