Mind Games: Math Crosswords gives you a grid with gaps in the middle of equations and a set of numbers to place. Each empty square sits where a row and a column cross, so the number that fits has to make both calculations come out right.

That double constraint is what turns simple arithmetic into a puzzle. On its own, an equation with one blank usually has an obvious answer, but the same square is also the missing piece of another sum going the other way, and only one number satisfies both.

The framing is a small science-fiction story: aliens have stripped the planet of plants, and the ships that regrow them run on solved problems. It is light and never gets in the way, but it gives younger players a reason to keep going that a bare worksheet does not.

Difficulty climbs by adding blanks rather than by making the numbers larger, so the arithmetic stays approachable while the reasoning gets harder. Working out which square to solve first is the skill the game is actually teaching.
